Description

This course examines the associate degree study of medical-surgical nursing, with an emphasis on comprehensive care management, leadership, and pharmacological interventions for patients with complex health deviations. Topics include cardiac, respiratory, oncological, neurological, visual, auditory, and peripheral vascular disorders, as well as end-of-life care, professional standards, and ethical and legal responsibilities in nursing. Students will develop skills in the nursing process, pharmacology, implementing evidence-based interventions, and promoting health maintenance and patient-centered care. Ethical considerations in decision-making, patient advocacy, and navigating legal issues will also be explored. The associated clinical components include hands-on experience in acute medical-surgical care settings, a preceptorship in leadership and management, and clinical simulation exercises focused on course content, fostering real-world readiness, safe medication administration, and
