Description

Ethics for Social Workers will focus on practical ethical issues commonly encounterd by social workers. You will identify the foundations of ethics in the social work profession and understand the values and principles outlined in the current NASW "Code of Ethics" adopted in 1997. You will become familiar with the current "Code of Conduct" established by the Iowa Board of Social Work Examiners and you will learn how to use these key documents as guides in ethical decision making. You will develop an awareness of ethical delemmas as they commonly occur in the practice of social work and you will develop ethical decision-making skills through case studies and group discussion.
