Continued laboratory practice of Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) introduced in WEL186. Groove welds with and without backing on carbon steel and stainless steel in all positions using a variety of shielding gases and wire diameters appropriate for the materials welded. Practice geared to AWS D1.1 Structural Steel or D1.6 Structural Stainless Steel Welding Code standards.
